The Oppo SuperVOOC is currently the fastest wired charger with speeds of 50W to 10V / 5A. However, Xiaomi is planning the next step with the new Super Charge Turbo. The company will announce its new charging technology tomorrow at an official event, but we had an overview of its capabilities before. In a Weibo message from Lin Bin, the president of the brand, we had a first look at the 100-watt charger, which is operated at 20 V / 5 A, against the 50-watt solution from Oppo.
After just 17 minutes, Xiaomi’s charger reaches 100%, while Oppo’s reaches 65%. These speeds are notable as the Xiaomi Super Charge Turbo powers a 4000 mAh battery, while the SuperVOOC runs on a smaller 3700 mAh battery. In comparison, Huawei’s upcoming 55-watt supercharger for the Mate X will take 35 minutes to fully charge the device.
Xiaomi’s current devices support chargers with up to 27 W of power, but even the flagship Mi 9 has only an 18 W charger. We have not learned yet when we can expect the Super Charge Turbo to be integrated with current commercial products, but that can happen tomorrow.
