Infinity-O displays are just one stop on the way to the full-screen phones – the ones with no notch or punch, just the screen. All sensors and cameras on the front must move under the screen.
“Although it is not possible to create a smartphone in full-screen mode over the next 1-2 years, the technology may reach a point where the camera’s hole is invisible while it does not interfere with the operation of the camera,” said Yang Byung-duk, Vice President of the Samsung Mobile Display R & D Display Group.
He says that Galaxy S10 phones are the first to have a hole in the OLED panel itself (for example, the Huawei View 20 uses an LCD with no physical hole, the camera looks through the LCD matrix).
Samsung has also considered using the screen as a speaker, similar to the Crystal Sound OLED of the LG G8 ThinQ, but he has decided not to use this technology on the flagship Galaxy S10.
