Nokia MWC event teasers showcase a mysterious punch hole selfie phone, along with the Nokia 9

Juho Sarvikas, Product Director at HMD Global, said Nokia will attend the World Mobile Congress this year. The deadline is set for February 24, and apparently the company also plans a public stream so everyone can access it. Neat! Although we somewhat want the announcement to be made in a more formal or at least less “disgusting” format than Sarvika’s “really” on Twitter.

would like you to tune into our Barcelona MWC showdown on the 24th of Feb 😎— Juho Sarvikas (@sarvikas) January 25, 2019

Obviously our wish was fulfilled when two new teasers for the event appeared online on February 24th. One of them is a clear indication of the Nokia 9, eagerly awaited and very successful. According to all data and after a tidal wave of leaks it will be equipped with five main cameras.

These are represented by the five faint circles on the banner itself. If the second banner has been improved, the silhouette of a phone with a hole selfie camera will be displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. And we’re pretty sure we’re looking at the screen with the little Nokia logo under the panel.

Since all the renderings we’ve seen on the Nokia 9 so far have shown fairly large top and bottom frames without a notch around the screen, it’s likely to be a completely different device. This is similar to a rendering sentence recently attributed to an unannounced Nokia 8.1 Plus. So that could also be on the horizon.

Add the latest Nokia 1 Plus leak and you’ll get a pretty interesting HMD event. We will definitely be reporting on the ads over the next month and in the meantime looking for more information.
